Techniques
Crochet is an artisanal, handmade technique that allows the creation of diverse three-dimensional elements and textures. These elements are integrated into the crocheted surface, generating richness, depth, and tactile variation. Each piece created in crochet is unique and unrepeatable. This technique is developed using recycled wool and yarn.
Latch hook is also an artisanal, handmade technique, each strand of yarn is individually knotted into the grid of a canvas, making it a slow and highly meticulous process.
I learned these techniques from my grandmothers.
Sustainability
These tapestries are handmade using ancient textile techniques and require many days of work; the only energy involved is the strength of my hands and arms.
The materials are primarily wool and recycled yarns, though sometimes old pieces of metal, wood, ceramics, stone and buttons are woven in.
